-  金龍地獄案内標 -

この地獄は深度200mより猛烈に噴出して
おりまして、噴出する蒸気が朝日を浴びて
丁度金龍昇天の趣があるのでこの様に名
付られました。
温度は摂氏 97度でこの熱を蒸し釜や温室
に利用しております。泉質は弱食塩泉で、
飲用・浴用として効果があります。
湧出量は一昼夜約 900 kl で当鉄輪温泉場
及び中須賀町・上人町等延長約 4km にわ
たり 11 ｶ所の市営温泉に供給しています。

       KINRYU  JIGOKU
    The Golden-Dragon Hell

Welcome to Hell !! Now, don't be afraid !
Hot spring　ponds for tourists　to see
( not to bathe in ! ) are　called " Hell "
or Jigoku in Japanese because ponds　
of boiling water resemble the Buddhist
concept of　Hell.
Here in this hot spring as much as 900
kiloliters　of water gushes out every
day from a depth of 200　meters.
The vehemently rising steam shining in
the morning sun is suggestive of a golden
dragon ascending　to heaven.
Hence the name, (In japan, the dragon was
considered an animal of good omen and
was believed to ascend to heaven. )
The steam at a temperature of 102℃
( 215.6°F) not only gave this pond its
name but it is also used for vapor
treatments, growing tropical plants and
cooking .
The water contains salt and has
therapeutic effects. Drinking it is
good for stomach and intestinal disorders.
